HS Football Gun Suspect Captured
DUNKERTON, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- A high school football player wanted for allegedly bringing a gun to a game has been captured in Texas. It all started on August 31st when the Superintendent at Dunkerton Schools notified the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office that they had found a gun in a duffel bag.
The school said the bag belonged to a player that was injured in the game the night before and taken to the hospital for treatment. Deputies say the bag contained a handgun and possible marijuana.
When deputies attempted to locate the player, they received information that he may have fled to Texas.
This morning, Chief Deputy Rick Abben said his agency received word that 18-year-old Mary'o Lindsey, Jr. was taken into custody in Dallas, Texas.
He is awaiting a court date to determine extradition back to Iowa, where he faces charges including Carrying Weapons, Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Possession of Marijuana. His bond is set at $200,000.
