Jury Reaches Verdict in Murder Trial

IOWA CITY, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28)--An Iowa City jury has now found Brandon Brown guilty of murder.

He was accused of shooting Donell Lindsey last year.

The verdict came in at about 4:20 this evening.

Brandon brown was found guilty of first degree murder.  

As brown left the court room the family of Donell Llindsey applauded and cheered the verdict.

It took the jury less than four hours to reach the guilty verdict.

Early this morning after the defense questioned their last witness, the defendants mother--closing argument was given by both sides.

The jury then went into deliberation.

I spoke with the victim's family and they said they werent expecting a verdict today but were hoping for a guilty verdict.

That's exactly what they got in court today. Sentencing will be schedule at a later date.
First-degree murder has a mandatory life sentence without parole.
