Fiery Night Destroys West Union Businesses

WEST UNION, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The flames lit up the storming sky so much that you could see them from blocks away.  Those flames threatened all the buildings just down the block from the Unionland Feed & Supply, where the fire is believed to have started Tuesday.
"The buildings are all joined together here so it's always an issue on any downtown fire when you have the structures tied together."  Said Roger Gamm, West Union's Fire Chief.
It was too late for the farm supply store and the Top Hat Tavern which used to sit right next door.  Thanks to a nearby excavator, that was all the damage done by this fire.
"We did bring in some equipment to knock down the one structure in order to stop it from transmitting through to the other structures."  Said Gamm.
The investigation into what started this fire continues.
