Branstad Agrees with Proposed Traffic Camera Rules

DES MOINES (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
Governor Terry Branstad today announced his agreement with proposed rules to limit Iowa's traffic cameras.
"The D.O.T. has a responsibility to oversee the highway system," said Branstad.
Last week, local police chiefs spoke out against the rules that could potentially remove the automated devices from areas where officials can't justify their use.
Law enforcement officers say the cameras reduce traffic cameras.
Branstad said today he believes the transportation department is acting within its authority.
The rules would cover highways and interstates, but not city and county roads.
