Home Heating Safety
CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
With temperatures reaching below freezing, many are digging out blankets and personal heaters.
Fire experts warn, though, to be careful.
They say the biggest dangers come from those heaters and furnaces being too close to flammable material.
Another danger comes from leaving heating devices on while sleeping or out of the house.
Officials also recommend cleaning out all heating equipment before using it and installing smoke detectors and CO2 detectors on each level of a home.
