Kennedy HS Evacuated After Fire Alarm

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Around 1,800 students and faculty were forced out of their rooms today after fire alarms sounded at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids.  It happened just after 8:00am Friday morning.  Firefighters say the alarms were activated after a burnt electrical odor was discovered in the main south gym.
   Firefighters called to the scene were able to find an overheated electrical motor above the band room.  Alliant Energy was also called to the scene.  Investigators say the cause of the incident is believe to be electrical power partially interrupted to the school.
   Power was fully restored to the school and its alarm system before firefighters left the scene.   Students and faculty returned to class about 15 minutes after the initial evacuation.
