Cedar Falls Company Announces Job Boom

CEDAR FALLS (CBS 2/ FOX 28)-- Even with a Master's Degree, Jorge Deleon--like most recent grads--struggled to land his first job.
"I was going from interview to interview and from job to job," said Deleon.
With no luck, he decided to market himself using a tool that came easy to him--speaking Spanish.
"I saw that there was a bilingual position opening up," Deleon said.
He's a bilingual debt collector at CBE in Cedar Falls--just one of the hundreds of new positions the company is trying to fill.
"We'll have IT openings; we'll have analytic jobs opening, management jobs," said Tom Penaluna CEO of CBE companies.
By 2015, the company plans on filling 400 new call center jobs, half of which will be filled by February.
"The economic impact for the Cedar Valley is really huge," Penaluna said.
The new jobs are expected to generate a projected $18 million.
"Businesses will benefit, new jobs will be created as a result of that," said Steve Dust, CEO of Greater Cedar Valley Alliance and Chamber.
Giving local grads their first shot and those like Jorge, who are already on the corporate ladder, a new step to climb.
"For the next three to five years, this is definitely a company I would want to stay with," Deleon said.
CBE will host a job fair on its campus on November 19.
