Surprise Gift Helps Woman Celebrate Thanksgiving

CEDAR RAPIDS ( CBS 2/ FOX 280-- Cleaning off her 17-pound turkey, Sandi Granger feels blessed to have something on the table.
"You know I really wished everybody in life could experience the way I'm feeling right now," Granger said.
Sandi gets by on social security and says each month is a struggle.
"We have hardly any food, sometimes no toilet paper," she said.
And this year no thanksgiving turkey until she received a surprise gift.
"Pretty much everyone knows Sandi," said Jake Dimmitt, manager of store operation s for the HyVee on Oakland Road.
The folks at Hyvee pharmacy chipped in and brought a turkey to Sandi's home--a token of appreciation for all the hugs and kind words she's known for.
"It's always both arms around, making sure you really feel the love that she's got to give out," Dimmitt said.
Even though the turkey was a gift to Sandi, she says in the spirit of Thanksgiving, she doesn't plan on keeping it all to herself but sharing it with her neighbors.
Its an act of kindness she hopes comes back to her in a familiar way.
"They'll give me hugs, Sandi said. I know that."
