Family Closer to Getting Smart Home

INDEPENDENCE (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
An Eastern Iowa family is one step closer to having their dream home.
Members of the Royal Neighbors of America today surprised Sue Spece of Independence with a check for $2,500.
Spece is the mother of three children who live with spinal muscular atrophy.
The organization says the donation is part of their goal to give the Spece's a smart home so they can all have more independence.
The new home will have a ceiling-mounted lift system, a storm shelter, and voice-activated features.
So far, $129,000 of the $200,000 needed has been raised.
