X Factor Contestant Has Iowa Roots

Some X Factor fans call them one of the most promising groups theyve ever seen on the talent show.  Restless Road has a great backstory, essentially three singers  thrown together by Simon Cowell while the show progressed.

Its an especially captivating act for one music fan in the corridor.  Grandpa Steve Mumm of Marion isnt exactly your typical X Factor viewer, but he never misses the show this season.  Thats because his grandson,  18-year-old Iowa native Zach Beeken is part of the country group Restless Road.

As Steve rocks to the beat watching with wife Jane he calls it one of the coolest things to ever happen in his life.  He says Zach actually seemed to be heading towards a career in producing movies, but that moved to the back burner after a life changing event.  My grandson just from out of nowhere he just woke up one day and his voice is way down here and the kid can sing and hes been doing this ever since and thats what he wants to do.

Steve says that low, bass voice wasnt enough when Zach tried out for American Idol and X Factor was beginning to look like a dead end too, but when Cowell put him together with two other singers it just clicked.  In Restless Roads first performance the guys received a standing ovation from both the crowd and the judges and teen girls screamed their approval.  But Steve points out that Zachs family is with him every step of the way and keeping him grounded.  In fact, one YouTube clip shows his parents joking with him about the family double chin shared by Zach and his little sister.

Meantime, Grandpa Steve in Marion says no matter what happens its an incredible experience and he just hopes Restless Road will keep speeding through the competition to the X Factor finals.   Im very proud of him, hes just .. I wish my dad was alive to hear him, hed be so proud of his great grandson, its wonderful .. its a good time !

Steve says he and Jane wont miss the show and if the guys make it all the way to the final competition they plan to fly to Los Angeles to cheer for Zach and Restless Road.
