UI Children's Hospital Hosts Open House

IOWA CITY (CBS 2/ FOX 28)--Like the old saying goes, love is in the details.

And so is healing says Scott Turner, executive director of the University of Iowa Childrens Hospital.

Its going to feel like its got a lot of vitality and energy, Turner said.

That energy can be seen in the bright green and blue walls in each room that will soon make up the new $292,000,000 childrens hospital.

People cant wait to move in, Turner said.

Its been almost one year since construction first began, and now all that work is on display.

From the neonatal intensive care units to rooms for older children the public can get an inside look at the future of the childrens hospitalwhich was mostly designed using patient and parent feedback.

Theyve been guiding our process the entire way, Turner said.

A process which may not look like much from the outside but has come a long way.

Within the next six months, youll really start to see the building take shape and come out of the ground, said Jay Goodin, construction coordinator for UIHC.
