Busy Days for Area Chocolate Shops

A survey by the National Retail Federation estimates this Halloween Americans will spend over $2-billion dollars on candy and 72% of those sweets are chocolate  CBS 2 news reporter Marcy Jones visited The Chocolate Shop in Marion to find out more about our need for sweets.

Gae Sharp Richardson, owner of "The Chocolate Shop"  believes that even though Halloween is known for factory- produced candy, creating chocolate is an art, even saying, it's a dream turned into reality

"Do you see the sparkle in my eyes? This is a dream come true chocolate and art, and wine and the people"

Touches of art around the shop prove that when chocolate meets creativity the results are sweet

Richardson showcases her creativity  coming up with products like 'pace yourself chocolates' where there's a truffle for every day of the week.

And although tasting is a big perk, Richardson believes her favorite part of the job is the smell, saying "We need to have some kind of a vent to vent the smells of our chocolate shop into all of uptown Marion, maybe all of Iowa, wouldn't the world be a better place then?"

But after tonight, it's nose back to the grindstone for the next holiday season.
