ROTC Ball Run On Friday

IOWA CITY (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Before the Iowa/Iowa State game kicks off on Satuday, the ball has to arrive on Friday.

University of Iowa ROTC cadets will leave Kinnick Stadium at 6:30 Friday morning, carrying the official ball for the game.  They will hand the ball off to ISU cadets in Tama, who will complete the trip.

The cadets are also helping service members serving in Afghanistan, by collecting goods to ship overseas.  They are looking for toothbrushes, baby wipes, Gold Bond foot powder and canned food, to bring a touch of home to those serving on the other side of the globe.

A truck to collect the goods will follow the caders during the routes, which will pass through the center of the towns they will visit.

  The schedule is:  Williamsburg - 7:35, Marengo - 8:20, Blairstown 8:50, Belle Plaine - 9:30 and Chelsea - 10:15.

The cadets from both schools will meet at the Roadside Park in Tama at 11:05, to hand the ball off.
