Burglar Cuts Through Attic

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- An 18-year-old Iowa City man has been accused of cutting a hole in an attic wall so he could burglarize an adjoining home.
Jerome Brooks Jr. is charged with felony theft and burglary. He remained in Johnson County Jail on Wednesday, pending $5,000 bail on each charge. Online court records don't list the name of his attorney.
Police say the victim reported the burglary the week of Sept. 9 and said the items taken included savings bonds, electronics and some jewelry. Police say Brooks often visited the residence that adjoined the victim's home and that he'd cut a hole in the drywall that separated the two attics.
