Child Safety Seat Check Event

IOWA CITY (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- With 4 out of 5 child safety seats being used incorrectly, it is important to have your seat inspected by a certified technician. Safe Kids Johnson County, in partnership with the Iowa City Fire Department, will offer a free Child Safety Seat Check on Wednesday, September 11, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Fire Station #4, located at 2008 N. Dubuque Road in Iowa City.

A trained technician will provide education and assistance on proper safety seat installation. Parents, grandparents, childcare providers, and others who travel with children in the car are invited to bring their vehicle, child, and child safety seat to the event. Appointments are not required, but may be made by calling Mercy On Call at (319)358-2767 or by visiting mercyiowacity.org.

For more information on the Child Safety Seat Checks, visit the Safe Kids Facebook page at Safe Kids Johnson County (IA) or contact Fire Chief Grier at (319)356-5256 or john-grier@iowa-city.org.
