Student-Run Credit Union Opens

An eastern Iowa high school is celebrating a first-of-its-kind business in the state.
Davenport WEst High School has now opened a student-run credit union.
The "Dutrac Credit Union" is open three days each week at the school during lunch hours.
It's run by upperclassmen who want to get more experience with money and running a business.
A professional from a local credit union supervises the students.
Each student works four hours per week and takes a college-level finance course.
School leaders say they hope to expand the credit union to include more students and more hours.
