Woman Charged With Leaving Baby In Car

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- An eastern Iowa woman is accused of leaving her infant alone in a hot car.

Twenty-nine-year-old Aisha Tahir, of Dubuque, is facing a charge of leaving a child in a vehicle, resulting in physical harm. Police in Van Buren Township, just outside Detroit, were called to a Walmart parking lot for an infant locked in a car with all of the windows closed. The temperature at the time was 77 degrees, with 64% humidity.

Authorities got the child out of the car, and the child was taken to a local hospital with a 100-degree temperature. The child was treated and released into the care of a social worker.

If convicted, Tahir could face one year in jail.
