Child Hit By Car In Central City

CENTRAL CITY (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- A Central City boy is now recovering after being hit by a car. Emergency crews were called to the Central City Post Office at 11:07 Thursday morning for reports of a car hitting a pedestrian.

At the scene, it was determined that 89-year-old Anna May Hinton, of Central City, had attempted to pull into a parking space, when she pressed the gas instead of the brake. This caused her 2006 Chrysler 300 to lurch forward and hit a 12-year-old boy.

The boy was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.

Hinton was ticketed for not having an Iowa driver's license.
