Flood Demolitions Resume
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- More than five years since flood waters inundated hundreds of city blocks in Cedar Rapids, tearing down what was deemed unrepairable continues.
This morning, demolitions crews tore down a convenience store along 1st Avenue SW. The store has remained vacant since the 2008 flood.
Several other commercial and residential properties are slated for demolition later this summer. To date, more than 1,700 structures, including 1,100 homes have been torn down.
