ICPD Welcomes New Officer

IOWA CITY (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
   A new Iowa City police officer is getting to know the city this week.
   Chief Sam Hargadine welcomed Dustin Carolan to the Iowa City Police Department in a swearing-in ceremony held on Monday, July 15th. Officials say Officer Carolan was hired to fill a vacancy created by the recent retirement of another officer.
   According to the city, Dustin Carolan is 30 years of age. He is from Decorah, Iowa. He attended Luther College in Decorah where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Officer Carolan also completed the Law Enforcement Skills program at Alexandria Technical & Community in Alexandria, MN. For the last 2 years, Officer Carolan served as a certified police officer on the Decorah Police Department.
   On July 20th, he will begin an extensive field training program with the Iowa City Police Department.
