New Spay and Neuter Clinic Reaches 2,000 Surgeries

CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
The Iowa Humane Alliance says their new Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic in southwest Cedar Rapids recently completed its 2,000th sterilization.
Officials say the clinic's workers have actually completed 2003 surgeries since opening the clinic on January 14th of this year. That includes 1,273 cats, 688 dogs, 38 rabbits and 4 male rats!
That brings the clinic closer to its goal of spaying or neutering 8,000 animals within its first year of operation.
Officials say this will help significantly decrease the number of unwanted litters of cats, dogs, and other pets flooding into cash-strapped community animal shelters in Eastern Iowa.
The new clinic is considered Iowa's first high-quality, low cost spay/neuter facility and is located at 6540 6th Street SW in Cedar Rapids.
To learn more about services and pricing, you can call the clinic at 319-363-1225.
