Local Talent Headlines Freedom Festival Music On The 4th
CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/FOX 28) -– The hours leading up to the 2013 Freedom Festival fireworks will be rocking in downtown Cedar Rapids.
With sponsorship from the Eastern Iowa Airport and Kirkwood Community College, the Festival is hosting two bands on the main stage. 'Airwaves' is a classic pop band, covering everything from the Doobie Brothers to Journey to U2. They take the stage at 4:00 Thursday afternoon.
Long-time Cedar Rapids/Iowa City favorites, 'Dogs on Skis,' recently inducted into the 2013 Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association Hall of Fame, finish out the night beginning at 7 pm. Mike Roeder, Nick Stika, Stu Mullins and Jeff Musel have been playing classic rock covers since the mid 80’s and are best known for their tight vocal harmonies.
Adjacent to the music stage is a gated beer and beverage tent featuring 8 different beers and various wine coolers and soft drinks. Freedom Festival buttons provide access to the venue and those 21 and older may enter the beverage area.
