CR Casino Group Announces Operator
CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/FOX 28) - The Cedar Rapids group hoping to bring a casino to the downtown area Sunday announced JNB Gaming, LLC would run the operation - if it gets a license.
The announcement came from the Cedar Rapids Development Group. The group proposed the $110 million dollar project, which still needs to get a state license.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission is expected to get the formal application from the group and the Linn County gaming Association in September.
Linn County voters approved going ahead with the casino plan, despite bitter opposition from other nearby casinos and several local groups.
"The fact they have defined themselves as one of the top operators in Iowa was important during our review process," said lead investor Steve Gray in a written statement. "They have a proven track record of developing and operating casinos that have become community centers and have led the industry in growth."
