Man Dies After Police Use Stun Gun

CORALVILLE (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- An investigation is now underway in Johnson County into a man who died after he was arrested.

Coralville police responded to a business Monday afternoon for a man acting violently and destroying items inside.

Officers tried to calm Thomas Martinez Junior, of Arizona, but had to use two stun guns to subdue him, after he became violent toward ambulance staff and police officers.

Martinez was put on a stretcher, but stopped breathing. He was revived, but died Tuesday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Reports indicate Martinez might have been on multiple drugs.

An autopsy is being performed, and the investigation is ongoing.
