Iowa Representative Running For Congress
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) -- A Democratic Iowa state representative from Waterloo is preparing to run for Rep. Bruce Braley's 1st District Congressional seat. The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/13Dv8t4 ) that Anesa Kajtazovic is setting up an exploratory committee and planning to visit all 20 counties in the 1st District. The Democratic Braley is running for the U.S. Senate next year instead of seeking re-election. Kajtazovic is in her second term representing Waterloo. She grew up in Waterloo after fleeing a refugee camp in Bosnia at age 10. Kajtazovic joins Democrats state Rep. Pat Murphy and Cedar Rapids City Councilwoman Monica Vernon in declaring her intention to run. Rod Blum and Steve Rathje are running for the Republicans.
