Date Set For Annual Barn Tour

CORALVILLE -- The Johnson County Historical Society is, once again, hosting the annual Barn Tour. This years tour date is scheduled for August 10th. In celebration of the Johnson County section of historic Highway Six being added to the U.S. Route Six Tourist Association, the theme for the tour was declared, Barns of Highway Six.

The tour will depart from 860 Quarry Road at 9am and head east on Highway Six. The tour will be finished by 1:30pm. At each stop on the tour participants will hear a brief history of each barn from the owner and have the opportunity to tour the barns, inside and out. The first stop of the tour will be the Secrest 1883 Octagonal Barn.

The cost of the barn tour is $20 for members of the Johnson County Historical Society and $25 for non-members. The cost includes transportation, touring the barns, and lunch catered by HyVee which will take place at the East Side Recycling Center on Scott Blvd.

All funds from the tour support JCHS in its mission of serving the public by furthering an appreciation of the historical and cultural heritage of the Johnson County community through education, preservation and interpretation.
