Balloon Glow Rescheduled Due to Weather

(Cedar Rapids, IA, June 24, 2013) – The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival staff has decided to postpone Balloon Glow until Monday, July 1st due to the heavy rains and high winds. With Brucemore’s lawn only able to hold so much water and the hot air balloons limited by high winds, Festival organizers decided to postpone it.

“We didn’t feel it was right to have Balloon Glow without the hot air balloons,” said Robyn Rieckhoff, Executive Director of the Freedom Festival. “Since people from all over the community look forward to seeing the balloons light up at dusk we wanted to give them the best chance possible for that to happen.”

Balloon Glow will still start at 5:30PM with country musicians Lonesome Road taking the stage at 7PM. Shuttles will run from Washington High School parking lot on Cottage Grove Ave. SE at 5:30PM as well, dropping off passengers at Brucemore’s Linden Ave. entrance and the 1st Ave. entrance.
