Majority of Iowans Support New Education Policy

DES MOINES (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
More than half of Iowans thing the state's new education plan will help students learn.
A Des Moines Register poll shows that 61% of residents feel student achievement will go up starting next year, when the changes begin.
The new plan raises the base salary of teachers nearly $5,000 from $28,000 per year to more than $33,000.
It also gives financial incentives to schools that offer leadership programs.
