Rep. Olson Resigns as Democratic Party Chair

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Cedar Rapids State Representative Tyler Olson is stepping down as Chairman of the Democratic Party in Iowa.  His resignation comes amid speculation Rep. Olson could decide to seek his party's nomination for Governor in 2014.  Fellow Democrat and State Senator Jack Hatch of Des Moines is actively exploring running for Governor and has already toured the state to meet with voters.
In a statement, Senator Hatch said, "I'll be among many Iowa Democrats who are disappointed to see him leave a position in which he was a good fit and showed real promise."
No Republicans have declared their intention to run for Governor.
