Authorities Still Looking for Links in Abductions

EVANSDALE, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Nearly one year after the disappearance of two evansdale cousins, authorities appear no closer to finding the person or persons responsible for their kidnapping and murder.
Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook vanished during a bike ride on July 13th.  Their bodies were found in a wooded area of Bremer County in December.
Recently, authorities have taken a close look at another abduction, this one involving two girls in northwest Iowa.  One of those managed to esacpe, the other remains missing.  Searchers have found traces of Kathlynn Shepard's blood, but no sign of her.
Michael Klunder, the man Police believe is responsible for the kidnapping in northwest Iowa, committed suicide.
Friday, The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office released a statement saying they continue to investigate potential connections between the two cases.
"...investigators are still tracking (Klunder's) actions and whereabouts around the date of the disappearance and are still sifting through information to try and determine whether there is a connection or not."  Said Black Hawk County Chief Deputy Rick Abben.

"While Mr. Klunder's actions in Dayton are of interest to this case, our focus remains on all aspects of the investigation and he is not the sole focus of our attention.  Other leads continue to be uncovered and investigators continue to follow-up on any and all information that comes in."
