New Miss Iowa Crowned
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) -- A Keokuk woman has been chosen as Miss Iowa and will compete in the Miss America Pageant this fall.
22-year-old Nicole Kelly won Saturday after a three-day competition in Davenport. Kelly was born without a left forearm and says winning the title is a chance for her to speak out for other girls who think they are different.
Kelly is majoring in directing and theater management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
She is the 72nd woman to hold the title of Miss Iowa.
The first runner-up was 24-year-old Isabella Blaine, of West Des Moines.
The Miss America Pageant will be Sept. 15 in Atlantic City, N.J.
