Iowa Gas Prices Among Top In Nation

CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Gas prices have been spiking in the past week, and now they're among the highest prices in the nation.

The average price in the Cedar Rapids area is $3.97 per gallon, 30-cents more per gallon than a week ago.

Additionaly, for the first time in a long time Iowa's prices are now higher than the national average which currently sits at $3.65 per gallon.

Experts say the spike is because of refinery problems on the west coast and Gulf coast which cause less gas to be sent into the mid-west area.
