Britt Hires New Police Chief

BRITT, Iowa (AP) -- The small city of Britt in northern Iowa has hired a local police officer as its new police chief.
The city hired Bob Sankey during the City Council's meeting Wednesday evening.
Sankey has been a full-time police officer for the city for five years. He will replace Police Chief Sonny Bruns, whose resignation is effective June 30. Sankey will take over the next day.
Sankey's promotion means the city will need to hire two full-time police officers, one to replace Sankey and the second to replace officer Chris Gobeli, who also recently resigned.
