Des Moines Officer Fired

DES MOINES, IA - A decorated Des Moines police officer, accused of kicking a man in the head, has been fired.

Des Moines Police spokesman Sgt. Jason Halifax says Collin Boone was fired May 1st.

Boone is accused of kicking Orville Hill in February. Police say Hill had been involved in a crash at the time and was not cooperative as he was being taken into custody.

Halifax says Boone was with the department for 13 years. The state and police department honored him and other officers for pulling three people from a burning SUV in 2011.
