Public Invited to Meet Ottumwa Police Chief Candidates

OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) -- Ottumwa residents can meet with three men vying to become the city's next police chief.
A "meet and greet" gathering is planned for Thursday night at the Bridge View Center, where each of the candidates will give a five-minute introduction.
On Friday afternoon, the City Council will hold a private meeting where members will interview the men. The council then will return to a public session and appoint the candidate chosen to be the next chief.
The finalists for the position are Tom McAndrew of Ottumwa; Jeff Jirak of Wilton; and Lawrence McNaul of Grinnell.
The job became open when former chief Jim Clark retired in February.
