Dubuque Shooting Leads to Arrest

DUBUQUE (CBS 2/FOX 28) - A report of  "shots fired" in Dubuque Thursday evening has put one man in jail following a standoff.

Dubuque Police say they got the call about 3:30 Thursday afternoon in the area of 24th and White Streets.

Based on witness statements, police established a cordon around 2410 White Street, then established phone contact with the people inside.

Four people ultimately came out of the home, including 29 year old Christopher Barginear.

An investigation determined the four men got in an argument a few blocks away with another man, 37 year old Walton Womack. Police say during that argument Barginear fired a handgun, although no one was injured in the shooting.

Barginear is faces three charges, including that of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He's in the Dubuque County Jail on $50,000 cash bond.
