After Stormy Month, Beautiful Weather Brings Out Baseball Fans

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The only thing coming down from the sky Friday we’re home run balls.

Skies that had been gray for weeks we're brilliantly blue.

As a result, the turnstiles at Veterans’ memorial stadium got a workout, because it was the ideal day for baseball, banter, and of course, bounce houses.

When spectators weren't involved in action off the field, they were taking in the action on the field.

Like father and son team Steve and Carson Samsenbach.

“This is the first game we've seen this year,” Samsenbach said.

Whether it’s the first or the last, ideal conditions allowed for ideal father-son time.

“We like baseball, we come out and watch games, spending time with him is real important to me,” Samsenbach said.

Now he hopes the product on the field match the conditions in the sky.

“Oh yeah, they're good this year.”
