New Home for No-Kill Shelter

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - The only no-kill animal shelter in the Cedar Rapids area now has a new location. Dogs Forever Safe Place has moved from their Wilson Ave SW location to a new location at 809 Rockford Rd SW. The new location will be celebrating with an Open House from 11-3 on May 11.

The open house will give the public a chance to see the new location as well as meet the dogs. There will be a chance for door prizes for visitors 18 and older, as well as a 50/50 raffle. The total amount raised from the raffle ticket sales will be split between Dogs Forever and the winner.

The new shelter will have regular hours of 11-3 every Saturday. Along with the new location, a Dogs Forever store will be located next door to the shelter.

The shelter accepts dogs that are at risk of being euthanized, dogs from counties without an animal shelter, or surrendered dogs in cases of poor owner health or owner death. They focus on senior dogs, but will accept all dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes.

As the shelter receives no city or county funding, they rely on donations and volunteers. For more information about the shelter visit dog-rescue-iowa.org.
