Kevin Barry joined the CBS2/FOX28 news team in May 2013 as a Reporter and became the anchor of CBS 2 This Morning and FOX 28 Morning Live in March 2015.
He was born just outside Chicago but grew up in New Jersey and is excited to call eastern Iowa "home". He's a proud Syracuse University grad where he majored in Broadcast and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences. While at Syracuse, Kevin was the Sports Director at Citrus TV and worked in the Sports Department at WAER Radio.
Since joining KGAN, Kevin has won awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association for Agriculture reporting and for his coverage of the 2014 Midterm Election. His story about the impacts of Hydraulic Fracking and Sand Mining in Iowa won an Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for Hard News Reporting.
When Kevin is not covering the Corridor, he enjoys watching The West Wing, The Newsroom and catching up on some reading. You also might find him out on a golf course or exploring Cedar Rapids and its surrounding communities. He's a die-hard New York Jets fan and was lucky enough to be in Canton, Ohio when Curtis Martin was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Kevin is always looking to know more about the Corridor so feel free to shoot him an email or Facebook message about things you care about in eastern Iowa or even just to say hi!
