Kayla James comes all the way from sunny Florida and is thrilled to begin her career in the Corridor. She joined the CBS2/FOX28 news team as a reporter in January 2018.
Kayla was born in Queens, New York, but spent most of her life in a town near Tampa, Florida. She went to school at the University of Florida, where she graduated cum laude in Telecommunication-News and Political Science. While in college, she worked as a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor for WUFT, and a sports cut-in anchor/producer for ESPN Gainesville. During the summer of 2016, Kayla spent several months as a news intern with the leading local news station in Tallahassee, Florida, where she helped covered everything from state politics to state political and civil protests.
Kayla is a self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur and chicken nugget fanatic. When she’s off-camera, you can find her venturing out to small towns throughout the state, binge-watching TV shows on Netflix (like Grey’s Anatomy, which she’s probably watched in its entirety three times), or thinking of something creative to do for her blog.
While she’s usually on the move, she’s always more than willing to stop and chat—so don’t be a stranger!
