Caroline Cummings is a political multimedia journalist covering the Iowa statehouse and politics in Des Moines. She’s excited to begin her career in Iowa.
Caroline was born, raised and educated in the Washington, DC-metro area. She is a proud graduate of the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism, where she studied broadcast journalism with a concentration in French. During her last semester of college, Caroline was a reporter for the award-winning student-powered news operation Capital News Service, where she also was a lead anchor for the nightly newscast, “Maryland Newsline.” With Capital News Service, she covered stories in the D.C.-metro area and beyond like confirmation hearings on Capitol Hill, the 2017 Maryland legislative session in Annapolis and Maryland’s part in the national opioid epidemic. Caroline also interned for WUSA-TV and the National Press Foundation in Washington.
Caroline is an ardent Washington sports fan and a political junkie. When she isn’t snooping for the next story, she’s probably streaming Bruce Springsteen hits on Spotify, watching “The Office” reruns on Netflix or eating her way through Yelp’s “Best Restaurants” lists.
