Iowa State University gets a #5 seed in tourney, Iowa misses out
The Iowa State University men's basketball team received some good news Sunday. The Cyclones learned they will be staying relatively close to home to start the NCAA Tournament.
Earning a number five seed, the Cyclones will travel to Milwaukee to take on 12th-seeded Nevada. That first-round game is set for Thursday. If they win two games in Milwaukee, the Cyclones will travel to Kansas City for the sweet sixteen.
Meanwhile, the University of Iowa just missed out on the tournament. The Hawkeyes were one of the top four teams left out, meaning they got a number one seed in the NIT.
That also means the Hawks will host their first-round game. They'll take on number eight seed South Dakota Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes will host their first three games if they advance that far in the tournament.
