Fourth-grader sends letter to Gov. Brown admitting he stole a hazelnut and pen
PORTLAND, Ore. —
A Portland grade schooler wrote a touching letter to Oregon Gov. Kate Brown apologizing for stealing a hazelnut and pen from the state Capitol during a visit earlier this year.
"These things were not mine and it was wrong for me to take them I'm very sorry," writes the boy named Samuel. "I hope you and the people of Oregon can forgive me."
The pen Samuel stole was also enclosed with the letter to the Governor. (We're assuming he ate the hazelnut).
"Samuel, in exchange for your apology, debt repayment, and return of the pen you lifted, I formally pardon you from any further penalization," Gov. Brown wrote on her Facebook page. "Hopefully the pen I'm sending your way will be an adequate memento for your visit at the Capitol. I look forward to your return!"
