Volunteers help plant more than 50 trees in Cedar Rapids neighborhood
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa —
Green thumbs gathered in Cedar Rapids on Saturday to help spruce up one northeast neighborhood. Volunteers and neighbors planted more than 50 trees. The Planting is done through the Branching Out program by Trees Forever and Alliant Energy.
The trees planted on Saturday were ones to replace other trees impacted by Emerald Ash Borer. The beetles are spreading across Iowa and destroying ash trees.
