University of Iowa remembers 25th anniversary of campus shooting

Members of the University of Iowa community are taking today to remember a shooting that took the lives of five people.
On November 1, 1991 graduate student Gang Lu shot and killed four people in Van Allen Hall, and then when to Jessup Hall where he shot two others, killing one of them, before turning the gun on himself. The shooting victims were Associate Vice President T. Anne Cleary; Dr. Christoph K. Goertz; Dr. Shan Linhua; Dr. Dwight R. Nicholson; Miya Sioson; and Professor Robert A. Smith. The UI says that Lu was a disgruntled former student because he was not nominated for a research award
The school is planning to put a permanent memorial on the north side of the Old Capitol building at a later date.
