Two Iowa City men charged with robbery, sexual assault
IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
Two Iowa City men are facing numerous charges after a violent robbery in an Iowa City apartment last month.
Criminal complaints say that on Nov. 3, 25-year-old Sullivan Smith-Berry and 28-year-old Earl Riley broke into an apartment with two men and one of the men's sister inside. Smith-Riley was wearing a mask that partially covered his face, and was armed with an "AR style rifle." The male victims were struck with the rifle, as well as kicked and stomped on. Smith-Berry and Riley demanded money during the assaults.
Police then say Smith-Berry gave the rifle to Riley and took the woman into a bedroom to sexually assaulted her. Riley held the two male victims on the floor at gunpoint while the sexually assault occurred.
Smith-Berry and Riley then left the apartment with cash and other property including a PlayStation 4.
They each are charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and second-degree sexual assault.
