Two in custody after Coralville bank robbery

The reported bank robbery happened at the Bank of the West on 22nd Avenue around 3:15 p.m.

The Coralville Police Department is investigating a bank robbery that happened Thursday afternoon.

The reported bank robbery happened at the Bank of the West on 22nd Avenue around 3:15 p.m.

The Coralville Police Department says one man entered the bank, demanded money, and fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police received a tip that a suspicious gray Ford Crown Victoria with Missouri plates was seen leaving the area immediately after the robbery.

At 4:01 p.m., Scott County authorities pulled over the Crown Victoria near the 287 mm of I-80 and took both people inside into custody. Evidence possibly related to the robbery was found inside the car.

Coralville Police are traveling to the scene of the stop to continue their investigation. So far, no charges against the two people in custody have been announced.
