Women assaulted on rural roads in Linn and Black Hawk Counties, deputies say

UPDATE 8/25/2017 5:19 p.m.: The Linn County Sheriff's Office said a woman was sexually assaulted early Friday morning in Bertram.

Deputies said the woman was attacked by a man near Mount Vernon Rd. and Bertram St. just before 5 a.m. after reportedly flagging her down to ask for help.

The car is described as a light brown older sedan.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating similar reports near Dunkerton and Cedar Falls.

Deputies said another incident was recently reported in Tama County. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office.

PREVIOUS STORY: Three females reported they were assaulted while driving on rural and urban outer roads in Black Hawk and Linn Counties.

These reports are from August 2017.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office said two assaults took place near Dunkerton and in Cedar Falls.

Officials said the Linn County assault was near Cedar Rapids.

This is similar to a recent incident in Tama County. A female reported being approached by a male south of Black Hawk County.

Police urge people to proceed with caution driving on the road. People should report anyone suspicious sitting along the highways immediately.

Call the law enforcement dispatch center if your vehicle breaks down on the road and you still do not feel safe waiting inside with the door locked.

An officer can be dispatched to you or to check on the suspicious person.
