Strong storms possible late tonight
A low pressure system will track through southeast Iowa later tonight. Moisture will increase thanks to southerly winds, and as the low moves through it'll provide the forcing to generate some scattered showers and thunderstorms late this evening and through the overnight hours mainly along and south of Highway 20.
There'll be enough instability and wind shear in place that some of these could become strong with hail the main threat. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a "marginal" low end risk because of that reason for parts of eastern Iowa.
After the front passes, cooler air will settle in through the middle of the week as temperatures fall below average into the 40s as we start spring.
