Stretch of near-record warmth begins this weekend

We're taking a break from winter and having a spring fling that may last almost a week! Temperatures will be very warm, for February standards, and may even rival some records. It will be so warm, golf courses have actually opened up for the first time ever in February!

Temperatures will likely be in the 60s for several days in the southern half of the area and mainly in the upper 50s (with some 60s) north of Highway 20.

Currently, we are forecasting SIX straight days in the 60s in the southern half of the area. That would be the longest streak of consecutive 60s in February on record in Cedar Rapids. The longest streak of 60s in February was four days back in 1930. So yes... this is unusual.
